Former police chief will advise UK on how to deal with gangs
A former New York Police Chief, Bill Bratton, is to become Prime Minister David Cameron’s crime adviser following last week’s riots in the UK.
Mr Bratton, who has headed the New York and Los Angeles police forces, has assisted the British Government in the past on policing issues and was awarded an honorary title of Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth in 2009.
The former Police Chief turned Security expert has not only experience but also shows remarkable progress in areas he has worked in in the past.
He was quoted as saying:
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with Prime Minister Cameron on those issues.”
“I think part of what the Government is going to do is, to take a look at what worked and what didn’t work during the course of the last week.
“My assignment is to focus more on the issues of the American experience dealing with gangs and what we may be able to share with them that might help them to prevent similar activities in the future.”
While no further reports on unrest have surfaced during the night, police are getting ready to raid and arrest identified looters and trouble makers from stills taken from cctv cameras.
To date more than 1000 people have been arrested for their part in the riots and a handful have already been charged, with some swift justice being dealt in certain areas. In Manchester some people had already been sentenced less than 24 hours after the Manchester Riots took place.
A young unanmed 11-year-old girl that was charged with criminal damage in the disturbances in the Nottingham area has been given a nine-month referral order by the courts. She was taken into custody on Tuesday evening after breaking windows at a New Look store in the city centre.

In order to curb further rioting and looting, David Cameron issued a statement saying that rioters could face eviction from council homes if they are caught rioting.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson has announced a £50 million fund to make long term improvements to the capital’s town centres and high streets damaged by the recent disturbances, the Mayor’s Press Office has said.
Known criminal Dominic Noonan was seen speaking to rioters in Manchester but it is unclear as to what the extent of his involvement is in the riotting.

In a bid to thwart off another wave of looting , unrest and riots in London, Metro Police are dispatching 13000 police officers to the London area for the next 24 hours.

Riots and unrest have consumed parts of the UK since Saturday after a protest over the death of Mark Duggan escalated.
Scores of Policemen have been taken to hospital after being attacked by a mob of around 300 people in Tottenham, North London, last night.
Stores on the high street have been looted and petrol bombs thrown at police vehicles.
This comes on the heels of the shooting of a man by police on Thursday.
While the story behind the death of Mark Duggan is unclear, it is apparent that he shot at a policeman while in the back of a minicab and as a result officers fired back wounding him fatally. His family and friends held a vigil for him on Saturday night protesting his killing. The vigil then turned into a mass riot where busses and cars were set alight, shops and stores were looted and raided and general mayhem ensued.
Even busses were set alight.
News teams were forced to pull out of the area after being attacked by the mob.
