Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
July 15th, 2011The Chocolate Chip Cookies are the most famous cookies in the world. They are originated in the US and they represent 50% of the cookies baked in the American homes each day. These delicious cookies are said to be Santa`s favorite meal and many people use to cook them especially before Christmas and then put them at the window near a glass of milk so that Santa Claus will stop from his long road and enjoy this tasty meal.
They were invented in the US in 1930 and after few years Nestle bought the rights from their inventor and started to sell them with the name “The Famous Toll House Cookie “ in a yellow bag. After Nestlé’s big success anyone tried to bake these delicious cookies and lots of recipes were invented. The next recipe is similar to the original Nestle cookies recipe using unsalted butter and two types of sugar: white and brown. It is an easy recipe to prepare and if you follow the directions precisely and use the asked ingredients you will obtain the best chocolate chips cookies you have ever tasted.
Ingredients
250 grams (1 cup) unsalted butter at the room temperature
150 grams (1 cup) white sugar
150 grams (1 cup) brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
300 grams (2 cups and a half) flour
½ teaspoon salt
300 grams (2 cups) semisweet chocolate chips
100 grams chopped walnuts or pecans (if desired)
Directions
Preheat the oven at 190 degrees C (375 degrees F).
Mix the white sugar and the brown one with the butter and the eggs by hand. Don`t forget to add the vanilla extract.
Then stir in the flour mixed with the baking soda and the salt. Mix well until you get a stiff dough.
If the dough seems too stiff to you, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of cold milk. If you think the composition is too soft, put it in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
Add the chocolate chips and the chopped walnuts and then mix the whole dough to make sure that you will have enough chocolate and nuts in each cookie.
Make 2-3 inches round cookies and put them on a baking sheet.
Put them in the oven for 10 minutes until they become brownish.
Additional tips on baking chocolate chip cookies
The cookies need to be far apart one of each other when you put them in the oven for baking because the dough they are made from spreads and if you don`t leave enough distance between them you will have to cut them apart after baking and you will damage their round or oval shape.
After 10 minutes you can turn off the oven but still let them inside for 3-4 minutes to be crispier.
Remove the cookies from the baking sheet when they are still hot and let them cool for 15-20 minutes.
If you don`t want to form little round cookies you can make like a whole cake from all the dough resulted, so you will obtain a chocolate chip bar cookie.
